Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are not surprised to hear in the Liverpool Echo that Glen Johnson would be open to moving to Italy as his contract expires in the summer.
The England international has plenty of offers to mull over as he prepares to pack his bags and leave Anfield in the summer.
The 30-year-old’s time is up and at the end of the season and he will have options from abroad as well as within the Premier League.
Two Serie A clubs who have been linked to Johnson are title challengers Roma and Napoli, where he would link up with his former manager Rafa Benitez.
With the way things stand at the moment, Johnson is eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club, and he says talks have already happened abroad.
Johnson said: “There’s no update. There have been no talks.
“At this point I have no idea (where I will be next season). I haven’t thought about it.
“I’ve got two months left here and we will see what happens after that. I’m just going to keep my head down and keep training.”
