Liverpool are expected to be active in the transfer market this summer after a frustrating campaign that has exposed several weaknesses across the squad, particularly in defence.
The right-back position has been a persistent problem area following the departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s long-term influence, with the club struggling to find a reliable successor.
Conor Bradley was initially seen as the natural heir but has endured an injury-hit season that disrupted his progress.
Meanwhile, Jeremie Frimpong has also struggled to deliver consistent performances when called upon, leaving Liverpool without a settled option on the right side of defence.
Those combined issues have reportedly pushed Arne Slot to prioritise reinforcements in that position ahead of next season.
Liverpool Plotting Dumfries Move
Liverpool are now reportedly exploring a move for Inter Milan full-back Denzel Dumfries as they look to strengthen their defensive options.
The Netherlands international, described as “relentless” by Gazzetta dello Sport, via FC Inter News, has emerged as a serious target for Arne Slot ahead of the summer window.
According to Football Insider, Dumfries, 30, is believed to be available due to a €25 million (£21.8m) release clause that becomes active in July, a fee Liverpool view as realistic given his experience and proven quality at the highest level.
Long admired by several Premier League clubs, including Manchester City and Manchester United in previous windows, Dumfries is now firmly on Liverpool’s radar as they prepare to act decisively in the market.
With Slot openly acknowledging that changes are needed after an underwhelming season, the Dutch defender is viewed as a potential immediate solution to a position that has lacked stability throughout the campaign.
