Football fans have short memories and Kopites here in the Transfer Tavern are getting over Julian Brandt with increased speed now that the Daily Mail have revealed that another Bundesliga talent in the shape of Timo Werner is on Liverpool’s radar.
The Reds have been aligned with Bayer Leverkusen’s Brandt of late, with reports claiming that he’s a serious summer target, but Bild in Germany have revealed that Bayern Munich are in discussions with the 20-year-old, which could be a major issue given the Bavarians’ huge appeal.
However, the Daily Mail are suggesting that Werner is a target, with Liverpool having been watching RB Salzburg closely for some time.
The 21-year-old only joined the Red Bull-backed side last year for £8m from Stuttgart and has been a big hit with 14 goals for the newly-promoted BuLi outfit, who sit second in the table behind only Bayern.
Although primarily a striker, Werner can play on either flank, making him an alternative to Brandt, and is known for his high-energy playing style, suggesting he could function in a Jurgen Klopp team.
Liverpool need to sign a world-class No.9 this summer – agree?
