Liverpool: Fans applaud club for cutting ticket prices for Shrewsbury Town replay

Liverpool fans have applauded the club for their move to reduce ticket prices for their side’s FA Cup fourth-round replay against Shrewsbury Town.

The Reds were held to a 2-2 draw against the Shrews on Sunday despite being 2-0 up early in the second half. Jurgen Klopp controversially decided that he would be playing his younger side during the rematch and that U23s boss Neil Critchley will take charge of the team. As a result, the club felt it was necessary to slash ticket prices for the game, in stark contrast to those of regular home matches.

Liverpool will charge £15 for adults, £5 for young adults and £1 for children, the club’s official website revealed. Klopp wanted to honour a letter that he received from the Premier League back in April 2019, where they were told not to organise international friendlies or competitive matches during the winter break. He had already promised his players that he would give his players some time off, which he will stand by.

There still need to run the stadium, pay staff, create a usable revenue to share with Shrewsbury. Not fair to charge full price if we are not playing the first team. Seems a good compromise.
