Jurgen Klopp mixed things up yesterday as his side hosted Southampton in the Premier League. The German gaffer opted to rest Joe Gomez, James Milner and Naby Keita, instead putting Jordan Henderson, Joel Matip and Xherdan Shaqiri in to start and it was the little Swiss magician who really impressed at Anfield.
Another three points for the Reds.
Who gets your #LIVSOU @carlsberg Man of the Match vote?
— Liverpool FC (@LFC) 22 September 2018
In Liverpool’s post-match poll it was Shaqiri who the fans voted as their man of the match. The ex-Bayern Munich man received just under 50% of the vote and pipped Matip, Mo Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold to the award. It’s only what he deserves too, as he was a menace all afternoon and never let Southampton rest in the first half before he was hooked at the break, presumably due to some sort of minor knock.
The Kopites will be desperate to see more of Shaqiri in the coming months after watching him against The Saints. He looked class during the first half and struck the delicious free-kick that bounced back down off the crossbar for Mo Salah to tap in. Shaqiri will be gutted to have been hooked after 45 minutes and he’ll be desperate to get back to it on Wednesday against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.

Without a doubt it has got to be Shaqiri

The fans are all loving having Shaqiri at the club and can’t wait to see him back in action and winning more man of the match awards.
