The 27-year-old beat his teammate and Egypt international Mohamed Salah, as well as Manchester City’s Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez.

Mane helped the Reds win the Champions League last season in Madrid and scored 30 goals in all competitions. He also contributed to his side winning the Super Cup in Istanbul and the Club World Cup in Doha during the current campaign.

The Senegal international currently has 11 goals in 19 Premier League outings this season, as well as two goals in the Champions League and two in the Super Cup, as per TransferMarkt.

Mane has finished inside the top three for the past three years and finally acclaimed the long-awaited prize to emulate the achievement of his fellow countryman El Hadji Diouf in 2002.

Supporters were delighted for the Senegalese star and made their feelings clear on social media.
