The Scotland international conceded a penalty in the closing stages of the Reds’ 0-2 defeat to Napoli in the Champions League last night, a refereeing decision that his manager Jurgen Klopp subsequently condemned, as per Sky Sports.
The Daily Mail reported that Robertson had been the subject of stinging criticism from some Liverpool supporters on social media after the penalty was given against him, while former Reds defender Mark Lawrenson admonished the 25-year-old in his BBC column for the “lazy challenge” on Jose Callejon which led to the penalty.
The Liverpool left-back had been an injury doubt before the Napoli game, with liverpoolfc.com reporting that he needed an assessment on his fitness yesterday after incurring a slight knock earlier in the week.
These Liverpool fans took to Twitter to condemn the criticism of Robertson and leap to his defence following the deletion of his Twitter account:

Obviously been getting unjustified clog for the incident last night. It’s a team game and we could have done better at the other end of the pitch as well. Not done to one individual
