Liverpool fans were happy to see left-back Andy Robertson secure yet more individual recognition.

The 25-year-old won a place in this year’s Goal 50, which highlights the best 50 footballers in the world over the past 12 months and is made up by editors and correspondent from Goal’s 42 editions.

Robertson finished 23rd in the list while a number of his teammates were also included.

Virgil van Dijk was in the number one spot, voted the best player in the world. Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Alisson Becker all finished inside the top 10. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Roberto Firmino were 15th and 17th respectively.

Supporters were aggrieved that the Scotsman missed out on a place in the FIFPro World XI and was not nominated for the Ballon d’Or despite an incredible 2018/19 campaign which saw him evolve into one of the world’s best fullbacks.

Supporters were delighted with Robertson’s achievement and made their feelings clear on social media.
