Liverpool: Fans delighted with Alisson injury update

Alisson Becker could return to Liverpool training on Sunday, that is according to manager Jurgen Klopp.

The Brazilian international goalkeeper has been out since picking up a calf injury in their opening day victory against Norwich City.

Summer signing Adrian has ably deputised for the regular number one, playing all of their Premier League matches so far. But it looks like he will have to give his place in the first team up in the coming weeks after Klopp admitted in his latest press conference that Alisson is close to full fitness.

Speaking to the official Liverpool website, the German manager said: “Ali is in a good way. He did yesterday [Thursday], not with us but with the goalie coaches, a full session, so [he’s] getting closer and closer. We will see, now we have to talk to the medical department.

“So Ali looks like he is close but the final word is with the medical department obviously, because we have to ask how it is exactly and that’s it.”

Despite the positive news, Klopp did confirm that the 26-year-old will not be available for their visit to Sheffield United on Saturday however.

“Ali is not in contention for tomorrow, it looks like maybe he can train with the team maybe from Sunday on. We don’t know 100 per cent, but he’s really close.”
