Liverpool: Fans get excited as major Thiago Alcantara transfer update emerges

Despite uncertainty over who will win the race to Thiago Alcantara’s signature, Liverpool may have been handed a huge boost.

The Reds have only had eyes for the Bayern Munich midfielder for months now and the feelings seem very much mutual from the Spaniard’s corner. He recently outlined that Anfield is the only place he would like to see himself this season.

However, recent links suggested Thiago could be headed to Barcelona instead of Ronald Koeman’s priority choice Gini Wijnaldum. But luckily for the Anfield fanbase, an update from ESPN (relayed via @LFCTransferRoom), has debunked any chance of this coming to fruition.

The Champions League winner will not be headed to his home country this season.

This news has naturally delighted the Liverpool fans who are now just waiting for the club to announce his arrival. One supporter has tweeted ‘well, well, well…’ whilst another thinks ‘the path is clear’ for Thiago’s move to Merseyside.
