Loads of Liverpool fans have reacted with delight after journalist James Pearce revealed that it would be a more “likely option” for the Reds to go for Timo Werner.
The Athletic journalist answered a question on Twitter (via @JamesPearceLFC) from a supporter regarding Jadon Sancho, following reports that the Reds are willing to pay up to £100m for the services of the 19-year-old. However, Pearce stated that he would be “very surprised” if the Merseyside club put the cash together for the Borussia Dortmund winger.
With that in mind, he added that RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner, who has been linked with a move to Anfield all season, is a “cheaper and more likely option” with a £51m release clause which is set to expire in April, as per Bild (via the Daily Mail). As a result, supporters were overjoyed with the news and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan simply stated “Jimbo has spoken” after seeing the news, almost hinting that Werner is almost certainly moving to Merseyside in the summer.
