Liverpool midfielder James Milner is set to enter discussions with the club over a new deal at Anfield, as reported by the Atheltic via the Metro.
According to the report, the 33-year-old will be out of contract at the end of this season as things stand and is free to speak to other clubs from January with a view to signing a pre-agreement.
They claimed that Milner feels he has plenty still to offer at Liverpool and manager Jurgen Klopp considers him a hugely valuable member of the squad.
Liverpool fan John O’Sullivan took to Twitter (via @Corballyred) to express his indifference over Milner’s contract discussions, feeling that there are other players at the club who can fill his place.
Have to say I’m not pushed on James Milner getting a new playing contract, he is 34 in January, if the contract incorporates seeing him joining coaching staff I’m fine with it, but I’m hoping to see less of Milner as season goes on and more of likes of Keita and Chamberlain

Milner came to Liverpool on a free transfer from Manchester City in 2015 and has gone to make 181 appearances at Anfield, scoring 22 goals and providing 37 assists as well as playing in two Champions League finals and a Europa League final.
These Liverpool fans on Twitter feel that the 33-year-old deserves an extension to his current contract:

So would I but Henderson, Keita and Chamberlain all made of glass so an extension for Milner is a no brainer.

Maybe if Naby could stay injury free for more than a few games it would help !! But a years extension for the fittest man in the club who covers LB/RB and most midfield options is a good idea.

His experience is invaluable in the dressing room and hes respected by all the players, he's still got a good season left in him even if it's as a sub to see a game out

I’d rather see Milner ( he was fantastic last season) than Keita from what I’ve seen of him so far. Hopefully ox becomes a key player though.
