Lots of Liverpool fans were left stunned by what Jurgen Klopp said about Divock Origi after his side’s 2-0 win against FC Midtjylland on Tuesday.
The Reds got themselves over the line despite struggling to create many clear-cut chances throughout, which was somewhat overshadowed by the injury to Fabinho in the first half, an issue that now makes their injury crisis at the back all the more frightening.
But after the game, Klopp went on to praise Origi’s performance, stating during the post-match press conference (cited by Anfield Edition) that the Belgium international “looked absolutely good” and had a “really good game”.
Playing as the number nine, Origi failed to register a single shot on goal, only made 12 passes in the game and did not complete any key passes or crosses either (Sofascore), which added to the fans’ concerns about a player who was already underperforming going into this fixture.
Should Liverpool keep or sell Divock Origi?
Keep
Sell
Unsurprisingly, supporters could not believe what they were hearing and were quick to question Klopp on whether he was watching a different match entirely, with one supporter simply saying the manager was lying.
