Some Liverpool fans are still trying to accept the reality that Timo Werner will likely be sporting blue instead of red next season.
After months and months of speculation and Werner himself declaring that he wanted to play for Liverpool, Chelsea have swooped in out of nowhere and all but secured the striker’s signature.

It was announced last week that the Blues had agreed a deal in principle to bring the RB Leipzig star to Stamford Bridge for almost £50m (via Sky Sports). It was an announcement that shook the football world, after Werner had previously branded himself a “good fit” for Jurgen Klopp’s team (per Welt, via Squawka).
According to James Pearce, the manager is “a realist” and won’t carry any bad feelings about the failed transfer despite being “frustrated”. The Athletic reporter also said the collapsed move was due to the current dip in the financial climate (relayed via @AnfieldEdition).
Read some replies from Liverpool fans as they discuss the recent update:
When Klopp moves on eventually, every Red fan will be greatly appreciative of his almost impossible achievements under this regime. He should be considered one of Liverpool's greatest ever managers.

Would have loved him here. But Klopp’s explanation made perfect sense.
We can’t furlough staff and ask players to take pay cuts, then go and buy a £50m player on £200k a week.

Absolute nonsense.

Sell to buy FC. We have the best manager in the world and can’t back him up when he wants. Nonsense. I would understand if we don’t have the new Nike deal in place, if we didn’t win the last champions league and follow it up with the super cup and club World Cup. Nonsense.
