Liverpool: Fans lambaste Roberto Firmino during Leicester City clash

Many Liverpool fans flocked to social media to criticise forward Roberto Firmino during his side’s Premier League encounter against Leicester City.

The 29-year-old started alongside new signing Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane, with Mohamed Salah missing out after contracting coronavirus while on international duty.

Firmino has received intense scrutiny in recent months after a slow start to the 2020/21 campaign, and only scored one goal at Anfield last season when they won their first league title in 30 years (via BBC Sport).

On the back of this, manager Jurgen Klopp asserted that he was “embarrassed” to have to defend Firmino and added that he “cannot help” those that scrutinise him (cited by talkSPORT).

Despite this, supporters were not impressed with what he saw, with some suggesting that he should be brought off at half-time.
