Liverpool: Fans laud images of Virgil Van Dijk in training

Plenty of Liverpool fans have been lauding images shared on Twitter of Virgil Van Dijk working hard at the Reds’ training facility as he continues his rehab in the gym after his horrific knee injury sustained during the Merseyside derby.

The Netherlands international had previously played in every single game of the 2020/21 term before the derby clash, highlighting his importance to Jurgen Klopp and the team.

In the Premier League this season so far, he won no fewer than 3.4 of his duels a match, and had also averaged a pretty impressive 1.6 clearances and one interception per appearance (Sofascore), showing his dominance when up against his forward opponents.

With fears over just how long he would be ruled out for, it is a good sign that the 29 year-old is back in training already as he could well make a speedy recovery. Of course, he will not be back on the pitch any time soon, but nonetheless fans are delighted to see him back around the team and smiling.
