Liverpool: Fans look back on Steven Gerrard’s Olympiakos goal

Liverpool fans have been watching back club legend Steven Gerrard’s goal against Olympiakos, which passed its 15th anniversary on Sunday.

His stunning late goal meant that the Reds advanced to the knockout stages and went on to win their fifth Champions League crown in Istanbul after beating AC Milan on penalties, with the game finishing 3-3 after extra time.

Rafa Benitez’s side had to win the tie at Anfield by two clear goals in order to progress but found themselves 1-0 down at half time due to a clever free-kick from Rivaldo.

Goals from Florent Sinama-Pongolle and Neil Mellor set the stage for the Liverpool captain to fire the Merseyside giants into a knockout tie with Bayer Leverkusen.

Supporters thoroughly enjoyed watching back Gerrard’s moment which is permanently marked in the club’s folklore and made their feelings clear on social media.
