Liverpool fans have been showering Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk with praise after their side’s 1-0 win against Wolves on Sunday.
The two centre-backs have been the focal point of the Reds’ winning streak in the Premier League as they sit top of the Premier League, 13 points clear against Leicester City and 14 ahead of reigning champions Manchester City.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are now undefeated in 50 Premier League games at home, winning 40 and drawing 10, which is partly down to his team’s defensive capabilities.
Gomez, who has stepped in for the injured Joel Matip, has impressed many in recent weeks and did so once more against the West Midlands based outfit. He won five duels, made five ball recoveries and had a pass success rate of 91% (via FotMob).

Alongside him, Van Dijk led from the back once again and dealt with all aerial threats, winning five aerial duels. He also made nine ball recoveries and had a pass success rate of 90%.

Been really impressed with Gomez lately. The defence has improved massively since he’s gotten his fitness back. Him and Van Dijk are easily the best centre back partnership in the league. Hopefully he can stay fit.
