Liverpool: Fans love transfer links with Atletico Madrid colossus Thomas Partey

Lots of Liverpool fans have been discussing a recent transfer link, as the club are reportedly interested in Atletico Madrid enforcer Thomas Partey.

According to Spain’s largest radio network, Cadena SER, both Liverpool and Manchester United are both eyeing Partey, who has a release clause of just €50m (£43.5m). This news has been translated by The Express, detailing that while the report does not name Liverpool and Manchester United, it speaks of two Premier League teams who have spent around £80m on a centre-back, which can only be the two north-west giants.

Interestingly, this news comes as Liverpool’s current defensive midfielder, Fabinho, is seriously struggling to find form, even leading The Athletic’s James Pearce to say the Brazil international is ‘nowhere near’ his usual level after the FA Cup defeat to Chelsea.

Partey is 6 foot 1 and an unbelievably difficult player to play against due to his physicality, averaging over two tackles per game in La Liga and a whopping 3.6 per game in the Champions League. He dominated the first leg in Madrid two weeks ago, recording a 7.59 Whoscored rating with a remarkable five tackles, two key passes and two dribbles. By comparison, his opposite number Fabinho got a 6.45 rating with three tackles, zero key passes and zero dribbles.
