Liverpool fans have mocked Manchester United defender Harry Maguire after a financial was made between himself and the Reds’ Joe Gomez.

Maguire, who recently joined the Red Devils from Leicester City for £80m in the summer, was criticised following his side’s 2-0 defeat to Arsenal on New Year’s Day at the Emirates Stadium.

Former Spurs midfielder Rafael van der Vaart went as far as saying that he played like a “Sunday League player” earlier during the current campaign.

A differentiation was made between the England international and this Liverpool defender in terms of financial statistics.

Salary per week:

• Joe Gomez – £28k
• Harry Maguire – £190k

Price bought:

• Joe Gomez – £3.5m
• Harry Maguire – £80m

Money doesn’t buy you quality, it buys you a fridge 🤷‍♂️#LFC #YNWA #ARSMUN pic.twitter.com/3xpmRcK30I

Joe Gomez was brought to Anfield by the previous boss Brendan Rodgers for £3.5m from Charlton Athletic in 2015, months before he was dismissed from his role.

Supporters were in stitches after making the comparison between the two players and made their feelings clear about Maguire on social media.

Here you will find some of the best comments from Liverpool fans:

There isn’t even any way to argue with this. That hurts even more than witnessing how terrible he is.

Nah lad a fridge is useful, he’s more like of those 4 slice toasters but the cheap asda smart price toasters that doesnt really toast your bread, it kind of just singes it but you persevere with it until the Currys sale starts and you can buy a Breville
