James Milner scored Liverpool’s opener in their Premier League clash with Crystal Palace on Monday night and after the game, he spoke to the Liverpool website and commented on how the club needs to learn to win differently.

Jurgen Klopp claimed after the game that the performance definitely was not one of the best that they’ve produced. Milner’s penalty gave the club the lead and a very late Sadio Mane goal in 93rd minute following a Crystal Palace corner was enough to give The Reds a 2-0 win to take back to Merseyside with them and the comments from Milner were bang on as he the important thing was the clean sheet and three points even though they weren’t at their best.
The fans won’t be expecting their side to be playing their stellar brand of champagne football every time they take to the pitch and the ability to ‘win ugly’ when you’re not up to your not on top four is crucial to every successful side. Last season saw Manchester City win games late on with football that wasn’t so pleasing on the eye but that’s what you have to do to become champions and it looks like the Kopites are starting to understand that.

The fans all understand and agree with Milner’s comments and they’ll be desperate to see the club get some more points on the board, whether they’re won with superb football or ugly football.
