Liverpool fans managed to survive a very big scare yesterday evening. Newcastle ran them very close at St James Park but ultimately they got across the line thanks to a late Divock Origi winner. However, during the game, the fans weren’t happy and found themselves demanding for deadwood to be binned, specifically Dejan Lovren and Daniel Sturridge.

The not-so-star duo of Lovren and Sturridge proved to be liabilities throughout the game, and the Reds will be devastated if either of them have futures at Anfield past this summer. With Lovren it’s a case of being a complete shambles at the back, even if his ego is equal to that of the entire Liverpool squad combined, whilst Sturridge has just had the world’s worst luck with injuries.
This summer the Reds’#15 is out of contract and will likely move on for free to whoever is willing to offer him a contract and keep their medical team busy. Lovren will take more work and if either of the two is to stay at the club it will be the calamitous Croatian. If the Kopites had their way they’d both be sacked off now though, and who can blame them going off of yesterday’s showing.

The calls to have Lovren and Sturridge removed from the game yesterday were relentless and Jurgen Klopp will need to take note given he’s got to set up a side to face Barcelona in two days time.
