Liverpool fans on Twitter had faith in mirroring a famous comeback last night

Every Liverpool fans will have fond memories of their Champions League win back in 2005, however, they’re always desperate to bring it up at every opportunity and again it happened last night during their 2-1 loss to PSG. Having been 2-0 down, James Milner scored a penalty on the stroke of half-time, leading to fans calling for ‘Paristanbul’, a comeback to match that of 2005.

As it happened, The Kopites failed to get anything out of the game and the fans were left looking silly with their Paristanbul tweets. But you can’t blame them for having a little bit of faith. The Reds have completed some spectacular turnarounds in Europe before and even in recent years, they’ve managed some brilliant European nights, with one against Thomas Tuchel’s Borussia Dortmund coming as recently as 2016 in the Europa League.

All of that aside, though, yesterday evening just wasn’t the one for the Reds and Jurgen Klopp has come away from the Champions League with the unwanted record of being the only Liverpool manager ever to lose all three of away games in the groups for Liverpool as he’s now fallen to defeat away in Paris, Belgrade and Naples, and the only thing that will save the club from the Europa League is either a 1-0 win or a victory by two goals o Napoli do find the net at Anfield on December 11th.
