Liverpool fans on Twitter slate Davie Hay for Robertson comments

There’s no doubting that Scotland are blessed when it comes to the left-back position. Having both Andrew Robertson and Kieran Tierney to share the role makes for quality whoever plays, however, with the Liverpool man holding down the position at the moment, Celtic legend Davie Hay has weighed in and claimed that he thinks Tierney is the better of the two.

The Celtic legend’s comments on Scotland’s dilemma at left-back were written in The Evening Standard and to say that he’s come in for a bit of stick for them is an understatement. Loads of Liverpool fans have flocked to defend their defender and whilst everyone is entitled to an opinion, the Reds are wholeheartedly against Hay’s when it comes to Andrew Robertson, who has been incredible for Liverpool over the last 12 months.

In the end, the debate over Robertson and Tierney was void as the Celtic man was forced to pull out of the squad, however, there were rumours to suggest that Alex Mcleish would shoehorn both of them into the side by deploying the Parkhead hero on the right-hand side of a back four. Until the next Scottish international in March, though, we won’t know who’s won the battle of the Scottish left-backs.

The Kopites have leaped to defend their defender and won’t be having anymore comparisons with Tierney until the Celtic man has proved it at the same level as Robbo.
