Many Liverpool fans were furious after Joel Matip picked up yet another injury during his side’s 1-1 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
The 29-year-old has been plagued with injuries since his free transfer from Schalke in 2016, missing a total of 60 games during that timeframe (TransferMarkt).

That number is now set to increase, having to leave the field after 45 minutes due to back injury (via Anfield Watch), with captain Jordan Henderson having to play as a central defender alongside Fabinho.
Matip’s latest setback means that Liverpool do not have a single senior central defender available at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal, with both Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez ruled out for a significant amount of time due to serious knee injuries.

With this in mind, supporters were angry with Matip himself, with some even going as far as saying that he should be sold in January, and questioning his reliability for the team.
