Liverpool are still no closer to signing major transfer target Thiago Alcantara, despite months of ongoing talks.
The Reds are keen to get the move over the line and, likewise, the midfielder has declared that Anfield is his only desired destination this transfer window.
However, Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol feels that there is no burning need for the deal to be finalised any time soon (relayed via @LFCTransferRoom).

Solhekol believes that Liverpool will not be willing to pay €30m (£27.1m) for a player with less than 12 months left on his contract. Instead, he has suggested that the Reds will want to revisit talks in January in hopes to strike a cheaper deal.
Whilst the idea makes sense, many Liverpool fans are adamant that this is not how they want the club to go about the move.
Some have criticised Solhekol’s thinking whilst others have admitted defeat as they fear that, if they let the deal slip, they won’t sign Thiago at all. One supporter has tweeted that ‘Taki will have to do’ after clearly losing hope in the transfer talks.

Takumi Minamino has been playing in midfield for the Reds during pre-season, which is where he could end up being deployed for the 2020/21 season.

Exactly what we tried with Werner and he’s at Chelsea

We need to stop telling players to wait a year of their careers for us. We’re not kings of football when another club will inevitably move for the players like Werner & he’ll go, especially if we can’t compete with wages.

Completely disagree Thiago is a player Klopp has been crying out for. Has that world class quality to pick a pass and score important goals in tighter games where teams defend deep. We don’t currently have that..
