Danny Ings’ goalscoring exploits have helped lift Southampton away from the relegation zone. Indeed, he’s scored 10 goals in his last 10 games for the Saints, making him the Premier League’s second-highest scorer, behind only Jamie Vardy.
Impressively, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s team are unbeaten in their last five games, winning four of them, elevating them to 12th place in the league, level on points with Arsenal and Everton. Now, their latest win offered them retribution against Leicester; the Foxes beat them 9-0 at St. Mary’s earlier on in the season.
Ings has got 14 goals for the season, thriving at Southampton after a fairly unsuccessful spell at Liverpool. Obviously, his time at Anfield was dogged by injury, making just 25 appearances and scoring four goals after moving from Burnley in 2015 but seemingly remains a popular figure amongst sections of the Anfield support. That’s because, with the centre-forward back to his best form, some Liverpool fans toyed with the idea of him returning to Merseyside in the future.
Here’s how some of them reacted to the striker’s interview after the win over Leicester:
Delighted for him. Is there a buyback clause ⚽️⚽️⚽️ #LFC

Such a good player. Was so sorry to watch him leave, but happy he’s in form and enjoying first team footy. A real class act of a player 👌🏻 @IngsDanny #YNWA
