It seems that hopes of a shock Liverpool return for Philippe Coutinho will never truly die but, for now, talks have been shut down over a summer move.
It has been reported that Barcelona are eager to get the Brazilian off their books and have allegedly lowered their asking price for his services. According to Spanish outlet Sport (via Metro), the La Liga giants are willing to slash Coutinho’s fee to a mere £44.5m, a fraction of the mammoth £142m deal they originally agreed with Liverpool in 2018.

Many Premier League sides have been linked to a move for the playmaker, including Chelsea and possible favourites Newcastle. The Reds were loosely linked a few months ago but talks have since died. However, some Liverpool fans believe it’s not over until it’s over and maintain that they could still be in with a chance of bringing him back to Anfield.
Coutinho back to Liverpool rumour doing the rounds today. Told that deal would be ‘IMPOSSIBLE’ in capital letters. Few colleagues wrote about his career being at a crossroads not so long ago. https://t.co/HceXKrjwIP
