Liverpool fans heaped praise on defender Joe Gomez following his side’s 2-0 victory against Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday.
The Reds continued their march towards their first Premier League title in 30 years despite facing late pressure from the Red Devils but did enough to keep a clean sheet and even scored late into added time. Virgil van Dijk opened the scoring inside the first 20 minutes from a corner and Mohamed Salah got his first goal against their hated neighbours.
After some intelligent distribution from goalkeeper Alisson Becker, his long ball sent the Egyptian forward through on goal and calmly finished past David De Gea to send the Kop into raptures. Despite some eye-catching performances from Van Dijk and Jordan Henderson, there was another name that had caught the eyes of the Anfield faithful.

Joe Gomez has shone alongside the Dutch talisman at the back, forming a formidable defensive partnership that has now kept 10 clean sheets in their last 11 games. Fotmob recorded that the England international won five out of his seven ground duels, won four headers, seven ball recoveries and had a pass completion rate of 91%. Supporters were delighted for the 22-year-old and made their feelings clear on social media.
