Liverpool fans have slammed former goalkeeper Simon Mignolet after recent comments he made during an interview talking about his departure from Anfield.
The 31-year-old moved back to his homeland and to Club Brugge six years at the club, brought in under the Brendan Rodgers regime and almost help guide the Reds to their first league title in his first season.
Mignolet: “If I could really fight for my place, I might have stayed. But if I had ended up in goal if Alisson picked up injury, then Alisson could immediately claim his place again. And even if he pushed the ball into his own goal, he would still retain his place.”

Mignolet made a total of 204 appearances and kept 66 clean sheets during his time at Anfield. He publically questioned manager Jurgen Klopp as to why he was not loaned out in the summer, which resulted in him being sold.
Supporters were not impressed with the Belgian’s comments and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan described him as a “clueless idiot”, while another said that he should not have said what he said as he was given many chances.
