Liverpool fans will be starting to feel the heat of the title race at the moment. They currently hold a one-point lead over Manchester City. However, two of City’s losses have come against teams managed by former Liverpool managers, and with Brendan Rodgers the new Leicester manager they’re looking for a hat-trick from their exes.

The other two former Anfield bosses to have taken points off of City this season are Roy Hodgson and Rafa Benitez, and if Rodgers can complete the unlikely treble then the Kopites will be ecstatic. That particular game between the Foxes and the Citizens doesn’t take place until the 4th May and by that point, either Liverpool or City could have league wrapped up, but for now, it’s an interesting prospect.
Rodgers’ decision to leave Celtic mid-season is a strange one. The former Swansea and Liverpool man has won back-to-back trebles with the Hoops and could be set to make it nine domestic trophies in three years, yet he’s scarpered Glasgow at what looks like the first sign of competition from Rangers for a Premier League return. That competition, coincidentally, has come from former Anfield hero Steven Gerrard, so it’s funny how the ex-Liverpool merry-go-round works.

The Reds love the idea of Rodgers returning to England to help them win the Premier League and it could go some way to helping the fans forgive him for their fated 2013/14 season.
