Liverpool fans take to Twitter in despair as title slips away

Manchester City did the business against Burnley on Sunday and now it looks increasingly likely that the Citizens will be the ones holding a title parade in the summer ahead of the Kopites. The Reds are still dying for ex-Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers and his Leicester side to help them out, but most have conceded defeat.

It has been a tough one for Liverpool fans. The Reds have been amazing and in any Premier League season pre-Pep Guardiola they’d have won the title, but at the same time, they can only blame themselves if they don’t win it. In ten years only two sides have been top at Christmas and not won the Premier League: Liverpool and Liverpool, in 2008/09 and 2013/14.

Whilst losing out on the Premier League title is going to be unbearably tough to take for the Reds should they miss out, they’ll be desperate to console themselves by winning ol’ big ears instead. The Reds lost out on the Champions League last year to Los Blancos in the final in Kiev, and this time around the supporters are desperate for it to be different, but they face Barcelona and then either Ajax or Tottenham if they are to do even that.

The Reds should be proud of themselves no matter how the season ends, but that will be incredibly tough to do considering how close they’ve come to winning silverware this season.
