Liverpool: Fans want Sadio Mane to win African Player of the Year

Liverpool fans want to see Sadio Mane pick up the award for the African Player of the Year after being included in a 10-man shortlist for the 2019 award.

CAF, the governing body for Africa, released the prestigious list which included teammate Mohamed Salah and Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Egyptian has won for the past two years and is targeting a third consecutive African Player of the Year trophy.

However, after a stunning year for the Senegal international, Mane has thrown his hat in the ring to pick up the award for the first time in his career and finished 4th in the illusive Ballon d’Or listing.

Mane managed to score 22 goals in 36 Premier League appearances during the last campaign, which meant he shared the Golden Boot with Salah and Aubameyang. He already has eight goals in his first 14 outings this season
