Many Liverpool fans have been left fuming as it was confirmed that they have sent out Ben Davies on loan for the rest of the 2021/22 season.
As per the official website of the Anfield faithful, the central defender, who was only signed from Preston North End in February, will now join Sheffield United on loan in the hope that he can help the Blades come straight back up to the Premier League from the EFL Championship.
Should Davies leave Liverpool?
Davies has not actually played a senior game for Jurgen Klopp’s men since his move (Transfermarkt), and so the recent news of him being loaned out has left several of the Kop faithful questioning the point of signing him in the first place, criticising the Merseyside club for not giving him any minutes.
With both Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez returning from long-term injuries, and the signing of Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig in the summer transfer window, it is now possible that Davies may not play a single match for the Reds before being sold on permanently in the future.
Liverpool fans on Davies loan
These Reds fumed as the news was shared on Twitter, with one LFC supporter even going as far as to claim that it was ‘pitiful’:
“Somehow a more useless signing than Minamino. Well done”
“Weirdest signing made by the club. Cheapskate signing now jogged on, on loan. Pitiful”
“We’re an awful club”
“What was the point?”
“You guys are absolute jokers… We’ve not even seen him in a pre-season action yet you’re loaning him out. Wait, are you sure it wasn’t someone else who bought him w/o Klopp’s notice”
