Many Liverpool fans have been slamming a rather poor display from Sadio Mane in their UEFA Champions League group game versus Ajax at Anfield.
Although Jurgen Klopp’s team managed to win the match 1-0 thanks to a goal from youngster Curtis Jones, therefore cementing their place at the top of the group and putting them safely through to the knockout stages, the performance of Mane was not something that gave the Anfield faithful much joy.
Is Mane underperforming for Liverpool?
The Senegal international lost possession of the ball no fewer than 15 times in the clash, and considering he only managed to touch the ball a mere 48 times as well (Sofascore), that means he lost possession every 3.2 touches.
With Diogo Jota as an option to play any position across the front three, perhaps he needs to step up his game as his starting place under Jurgen Klopp may not be guaranteed with performances like this.

Mane was just as poor if not worse imo and no one will say a word..

Second half Salah was at it too. But Mane was particularly poor tonight.

Second things second, the big boys produced an awful performance. Mane, salah jota, and even firmino when he came on and missed that one on one. The small boys (Curtis Jones, Neco Williams, and kelleher) omd, did very well.

He did well.
Thought we where a tad fortunate to win.
Far too often our decision making in the final third was abysmal.
Mane in particular played like he had someone else’s boots on.
But where through, and as group winners.
Job done. https://t.co/asNeYo5g3h
