Former Liverpool star John Barnes has fired an indirect dig at Sadio Mane following The Reds’ 7-0 win against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Barnes fires shots
Liverpool returned from South London as convincing winners as the champions left their mark on Roy Hodgson’s side. Braces from Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah helped them on their way, with Takumi Minamino, Sadio Mane and Jordan Henderson adding to the tally.
Mane scored in the 35th minute to make it 2-0 and had some glorious opportunities in the second half to add to that before Klopp brought him off before the hour mark.
The Senegal international was visibly frustrated with the German tactician’s decision but with a hectic schedule and growing injury concerns, Klopp was not taking any chances.
Barnes took to social media to respond to a question regarding Firmino’s performance, who was also brought off with 15 minutes to go and it looked like he took a shot at Mane in the process.

Mane was previously described as “unbelievable” by former Anfield star Jamie Redknapp and played a huge part in helping his side capture their first league title in 30 years last season (cited by Metro).
Transfer Tavern Verdict
Klopp was not fazed by Mane’s reaction as it simply showed that he cares deeply about playing football for Liverpool.
Barnes’ reaction is baffling, to say the least. Supporters want to see players showing hunger and appetite while out on the pitch.
This will be swept under the carpet quickly and Liverpool will not dwell on a minor situation, in what was a brilliant day for the club.
