Liverpool have a very strong squad and added some great quality in the summer with additions like Champions League winner Thiago Alcantara.
Former Reds goalkeeper Chris Kirkland spoke exclusively to The Transfer Tavern however, revealing there may be one more crucial addition Jurgen Klopp needs to make.
Kirkland wants Liverpool to strengthen at the back
Speaking exclusively to The Transfer Tavern about possible improvements to the squad, Kirkland said: “That could probably be another area at the end of the season, where they sign a keeper,” pointing towards the poor form of Adrian.
Would this be a good idea for the Reds?
Kirkland spoke previously on the number one spot at the club and mentioned how he believed Loris Karius would be sold in the summer. The German hasn’t made an appearance for the club since his calamitous display in the 2018 Champions League final.
Alisson has also had three separate injuries since the start of last season and when he has been unavailable for selection, the club have had to call on Adrian.
This has been an issue as the Spaniard has made a lot of errors in between the sticks. These came in important games last season like in the Champions League against Atletico Madrid and the FA Cup against Chelsea.
Therefore it’s hard to disagree with Kirkland and it looks like a very good idea to sign another back-up goalkeeper, who can come in and impress if Alisson has any more injury woes.
