According to Fabrizio Romano, as relayed in a written report by Skrill, the Reds and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp still have their sights set firmly on a move for Fulham forward Fabio Carvalho.

The Lowdown: Liverpool fall at last hurdle...

In the last hours of January, Liverpool transfer chiefs were negotiating a deal to sign the exciting teenage attacker for Klopp amid his impressive season in the Championship (The Athletic).

His club, however, refused to let him go too easily, and by the time they shook hands on an £8 million agreement, it was too late to properly process all the necessary paperwork and get a deal over the line before 11pm.

Carvalho's move to Merseyside, as a result, collapsed at the final hurdle but reports claim he is still only wants to join Liverpool.

Some sources, like Kevin Palmer of The Sunday World, even claim an agreement is already in place to sign him for the summer.

Romano, however, believes things aren't quite as advanced as that.

The Latest: Romano shares update...

According to the reliable reporter, speaking on the outlet's Youtube channel and shared by Skrill's website, there 'will be talks about this deal' in the summer window as Liverpool maintain their strong interest.

He believes that Carvalho even passed his medicals on deadline day but the late nature of the move means FSG and Klopp will have to revisit the finer details later this year.

The Verdict: Get it done...

Called a 'super young talent' by BBC pundit and former Reds midfielder Danny Murphy (UAENews), it's safe to say Liverpool need to get this over the line in 2022.

Having racked up seven goals and five assists in the Championship this season at just 19-years-old, it appears Carvalho could only get better and the fact he allegedly wants to join Liverpool only provides a bigger incentive to move - losing him to a rival or one of Europe's mega clubs would be enormously disappointing.
