Liverpool are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho this summer, according to journalist Patrick Berger (not to be confused with the Czech former Reds forward).

The Lowdown: Sancho continues to shine

The 21-year-old has shone for Dortmund over a number of seasons now, outlining his reputation as one of Europe's most exciting young players. Sancho has scored 48 goals in 134 appearances for the Bundesliga giants, catching the eye with his pace, trickery and end product.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the youngster for some time now, with a summer exit from Dortmund potentially on the cards.

The Latest: Journalist confirms Reds' interest

Taking to Twitter to respond to a post from presenter Jan Aage Fjortoft, Berger simply said, "correct", agreeing that Liverpool and Manchester United are both eyeing up a summer swoop:

The Verdict: Potential stumbling block

Sancho is a special talent with a huge future, so Liverpool's interest is undoubtedly exciting, with former Dortmund manager Lucien Favre once describing the forward as 'unbelievable'.

The biggest stumbling block is Fjortoft's claim that Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane would have to leave in order for the England international to come in, though. Both are still too important to let go, regardless of Mane's struggles this season, so that could end up giving United the upper hand.

In an ideal world, Liverpool would sign Sancho and keep hold of both Salah and Mane, but that may not be financially viable this summer.
