Liverpool handed significant boost ahead of Stoke City clash

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern were pleased with their side’s resolute performance against Chelsea over the weekend. The Reds could have quite easily crumbled after a sustained amount of Chelsea pressure in the second-half, but they stood firm and impressed at Anfield.

Now sat in 6th place in the Premier League, though, Jurgen Klopp has a lot of hard work on his hands as he looks to turn his team into title contenders. They’ve been able to compete with most of the top sides in the Premier League, but they need to pick up more points if they want to catch the likes of Man City and Man Utd.

Fortunately, Jurgen Klopp has provided some good news for the club as they work to that end, with the Reds receiving a significant injury boost ahead of Wednesday evening’s clash against Stoke City. According to Klopp, via the official Liverpool website, Emre Can is back and available for the game, having missed the Reds’ game with Chelsea over the weekend.

Emre Can has been a key member of the Liverpool first team this season, and his absence was duly noted over the weekend. The Reds struggled to control the midfield without his quality, and so his return will be a huge boost for Jurgen Klopp.

Landlord’s Verdict

Can’s future may be uncertain, but his quality certainly isn’t. He has been sensational this term, and he is likely to feature immediately upon his return.

The German adds a sense of stability and balance to the midfield, and that will be crucial against the Potters, who are powerful in the middle of the park.
