The Daily Star have Liverpool fans looking up with a huge amount of interest here in the Football Transfer Tavern as the publication claims that the Reds are trying to bring in a world class goalkeeper before the transfer window slams shut.
The player in question is Barcelona stopper Marc-Andre ter Stegen who some of our resident Reds question – ‘is he even world class?’
Despite making the move to the Camp Nou from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer, he has been unable to displace Claudio Bravo as Luis Enrique’s favoured number one and has made his unhappiness at sitting on the bench very clear.
Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers clearly has no faith in either Simon Mignolet or Brad Jones, not that we really blame him for that and at least our Reds fans by the bar agree ter Stegen would be an upgrade on the pair.
One of our punters notes that given how young ter Stegen still is, a long-term future at the Camp Nou is still of course possible but a loan spell away may be just what he needs.
So desperate are the Reds to land him, they will agree to a loan deal if a permanent transfer for the £17 million-rated ace cannot be agreed.
