Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are nodding their heads at the news in the Daily Mail who explain how the Reds are now scouting Bolton Wanderers midfielder Josh Vela following his impressive performances against them in the FA Cup recently.
Vela is 21-years-old but this isn’t the first time he has been on Liverpool’s radar after they came in for him when he was just 17 but their £1 million offer was rejected.
Punters view the news as refreshing as it is one of the rare occasions where Liverpool have been linked with a midfielder without the player in question being tipped to be the ‘next Steven Gerrard’.
Brendan Rodgers was clearly impressed by the youngster as he matched Liverpool’s players for effort and passion in both the games at Anfield and the Macron Stadium recently.
Since the two games in the cup, Rodgers has made sure that Vela has been scouted as he and the officials at the club consider to sign him once again.
Vela has shown great maturity for his age and although he hasn’t scored yet, he has had plenty of first team opportunities, making 19 appearances for Neil Lennon’s side this season.
