Liverpool in advanced talks for 19-year-old talent with CL experience

Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern have been discussing the full-back roles in Jurgen Klopp’s XI at length of late, so Telefoot’s report that Jordy Gaspar of Lyon is a target for the club has been met with great intrigue.

Indeed, the French outlet suggest that, even though the Ligue 1 giants are trying to tie him down to a long-term professional contract, the 19-year-old is a player on the Reds’ radar.

They go as far as to state that talks are at an ‘advanced’ stage and that proposals have been sent to the youngster, although it’s not clear if the Merseysiders have made him an offer with AC Milan also mooted to be some way down the line with the France U-20 ace.

Gaspar is currently in his first season as part of the Lyon first-team and made his debut for the club in Champions League action against Sevilla in September, while he’s also appeared in league action twice at right-back and as a right-sided wing-back.

With Nathaniel Clyne’s lack of end product surely a concern for Klopp, Gaspar might tempt him, although Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is just 18, emerging from the club’s youth set-up could muddy the waters for the German gaffer.

Trent Alexander-Arnold should be ahead of Nathaniel Clyne in Jurgen Klopp’s plans – agree?
