The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are confident that Jurgen Klopp is building a strong squad at Anfield. They’re clearly a side on the up, and with big signings like Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk already making a big impact, the future is certainly bright at Liverpool.
However, keeping players at the club is just as important as bringing fresh talent in, and so Klopp must be sure not to neglect his current squad in favour of new signings. Fortunately, according to the Liverpool Echo, that’s something that the Liverpool brass are eager not to do.
It’s no less than he deserves of course. He has found it tough to keep pace with the impressive Mohamed Salah in the attack this term, but his role has remained important. Providing fantastic energy and pace, alongside a real threat in front of goal, the Senegalese forward is crucial to Klopp’s plans.
His connection with Firmino and Salah has become unstoppable this term, and so it makes sense to keep the trio together.
Mane’s current deal ends in 2021.
Landlord’s Verdict
Mane is a top player. He’s been inconsistent this term, but his idea of inconsistency is still far more efficient than a few of Liverpool’s other players.
He’s popped up with some important goals this season, and that’s the mark of a top player. A new deal makes sense as the 25-year-old begins to enter his prime years.
Between new deals for Firmino and Mane, and the major signings of players like Virgil van Dijk and Naby Keita, it’s an exciting time to be a Liverpool fan – with big things clearly on the horizon and being planned.
