Liverpool plot move for deadly German striker

Stefan KiesslingLiverpool fans gathering in the Transfer Tavern ahead of a crucial Europa League clash with Rubin Kazan are discussing the latest striking target to emerge in the gossip pages.

The Daily Express states Jurgen Klopp is keen to bring compatriot Stefan Kiessling to Anfield, after seeing the 31-year-old German forward fall down the pecking-order at Bayer Leverkusen following Javier Hernandez’ arrival in the summer.

With the Reds currently having vast injury problems up-top, with Daniel Sturridge struggling for fitness and Danny Ings out for the season, it’s widely expected that Liverpool will add to their forward options in the New Year.

Kiessling has over 130 league goals in Germany and his agent, Ali Bulut, is quoted by German press as stating the veteran is open to an exit come January.

“Then [if Kiessling becomes a ‘B’ striker] Stefan and I will speak after the first round with the club, about the situation and together find a solution,”

Fans at the bar believe that although Kiessling is not the ideal forward addition, he would add a wealth of depth to the squad and would provide a major boost in the quest to return to Champions League football.

Liverpool fans, do you need a striker in January? Is Kiessling the answer? Let us know in the comments below!
