Taking to Twitter, The Athletic‘s Ornstein claimed that Liverpool are among the leading suitors for Bellingham this summer and named the price tag:
“Clubs lining up for Jude Bellingham. Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd, Real Madrid likely to be primary contenders if 19yo exits Dortmund. Price expected to be ~€150m but currently many factors + little certainty.”
The Verdict: Simply have to sign him
It is clearly going to be difficult for Liverpool to get Bellingham this summer, given the competition they face, but it would be an almighty blow not to get him now.
The fact that the 22-cap England star is seemingly not put off by the Reds’ current struggles is a huge bonus, as Ornstein points out in the article, which does suggest that he could have his heart set on Anfield.
Bellingham alone won’t solve what has been a mess in Liverpool’s midfield this season but he would be one of the biggest statement signings of the entire Jurgen Klopp era.
This is someone who could be the world’s best midfielder over the coming years, having been hailed as a ‘fabulous’ player by Rio Ferdinand and scored four goals in this season’s Champions League, also already captaining Dortmund in his teens.
