They went on to play their first game in the Football League’s second division, and won promotion to the First Division at the first attempt in 1894. Just eight years after competing in the English First Division, they were crowned champions for the first time in the clubs prestigious history.

Liverpool are the most successful club in English football and one of the most successful clubs in the world with 47 major first-team honours. The Reds have won six European Cups, more than any other British team. The first came under Bob Paisley, but the most famous Champions League title has to be from Istanbul in 2005 where a 3-0 down Liverpool team fought back to equalise level with an incredible AC Milan side, and beat them on penalties. This match will go down in history as one of, if not the greatest football comebacks of all time.
