Liverpool are continuing their search for a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah following confirmation that the Egyptian superstar will leave Anfield this summer.
Replacing the club’s record Premier League goalscorer was never going to be straightforward. Even in the latter stages of his career, Salah has remained Liverpool’s most decisive attacking outlet, meaning Arne Slot’s side face a huge task finding someone capable of filling the void.
The Reds could choose to spend heavily on an already established world-class forward, or instead back a younger talent with the potential to grow into the role over time.
Now, it appears Liverpool have identified another possible option, with the club reportedly turning their attention towards a Portugal international once described as “unpredictable” and compared to Neymar by former Benfica and Portugal star Nuno Gomes.
Liverpool Interested in Trincao
Liverpool have reportedly registered interest in Sporting CP winger Francisco Trincao ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to Caught Offside, the Reds have already taken initial steps towards exploring a potential move for the 26-year-old, who has rebuilt his reputation impressively since leaving Barcelona.
Trincao has become a hugely important player for Sporting over the last two seasons, developing into one of the standout attacking performers in Portuguese football.
Comfortable operating from either flank or in more central attacking areas, the winger has impressed with his creativity, movement and technical quality. He has contributed six goals and 11 assists in Liga Portugal this season.
Liverpool are believed to value his versatility and ability to unlock tight defences, particularly with the club preparing for major attacking changes this summer.
Chelsea are also said to be monitoring the situation, while Sporting remain protected by a contract running until 2030 that reportedly includes a €60 million release clause.
Whether Liverpool formalise their interest with an official approach remains to be seen, but Trincao’s resurgence in Lisbon has clearly put him back on the radar of some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
