The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are growing increasingly anxious about their side’s summer plans…

Though speculation has been non-stop in recent weeks, with Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah both linked with a move, as of yet – there has been no concrete progress for the Reds.

That doesn’t seem to be putting off Jurgen Klopp, though, with the Liverpool manager reportedly still looking at additional targets and having discussions regarding potential summer moves.

According to Sky Sports News on Twitter, Liverpool are in talks with Sporting Lisbon over a move for Gelson Martins, with Jurgen Klopp clearly a fan of the Portuguese international.

A winger by trade, Martins would bring a real dose of energy to the Liverpool attack, with dribbling, pace and key passing all vital attributes to his game.

Interestingly, our landlord has suggested that Martins could be seen as an alternative to Mohamed Salah, with both players occupying an attacking midfield role. With Liverpool reportedly yet to agree a fee for Salah, perhaps the Reds are now looking to sign Martins instead. Given that Liverpool already have a host of attacking midfielders, notably Mane, Lallana, Coutinho and Firmino, there isn’t really space for two additions.

Whatever the case, the Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are just looking forward to their club beginning their summer spending.
