He reports that Chelesa have beaten Liverpool to confirm the signing of FC Basel winger Mohamed Salah, thought to be in the region of £11million.
Salah had been strongly linked with a move to Anfield in the bar over the past few weeks as Brendan Roders outlined a move for the 21-year-old.
It was understood that Liverpool had been unable to reach a compromise on Basel’s £12 million valuation, and that has seen the Blues swoop for the impressive Egyptian international, who has found the net four times for the Swiss outfit this term.
“Chelsea Football Club can confirm an agreement has been reached with FC Basel for the transfer of their 21-year-old attacking midfielder Mohamed Salah,” read a statement on the club’s website.
The 21-year-old, who impressed during his club’s Champions League victories over Chelsea in this year’s group stages, will move to Stamford Bridge subject to agreeing personal terms and completing a medical.
It is highly exciting news for the Chelsea supporters in the bar with Salah regarded very highly, with his searing pace and swashbuckling style winning admirers from across Europe.
